Prayer Requested

I am in the process of finishing a book. Funny thing, I thought when you were done, you were done. I even went to the stationary store and printed a copy for myself. Ha ha. Jokes on me. Apparently, not so.

After talking with a good friend who is a writer, I discovered quite a few things were yet ahead. Including the fact that this type of book should be longer. I had about 35,000 words, but this category should be around 50-55,000 words. Okay. back to the drawing board I went.

I am now at 53,000 words and the friends I asked to read it, came up with a couple of new suggestions which made a lot of sense. So I am once again back to writing at least two more chapters. That's fine with me. I want it to be as comprehensive as possible.

But before I give you my request, I offer some details for you.

1) My title is "Deliverance: the Healing Ministry You Never Knew You Needed." I want to demystify and take the fear out of deliverance and demons. Obviously not every publisher is going to be interested in such a book.

2) I had hoped to send my book to Doris Wagner, who has been my mentor in deliverance ministry for many years. I was hoping she would be able to give some weight to my book and convince one of her publishers to take me on. We used to converse via email now and then. However, either my emails are not getting through or she is no longer able to handle email. She is in her 90's, after all. I'm guessing this option is no longer on the table. {sigh}

With that preamble, I have discovered that there is a myriad of publishers out there! And every one of them, once they found out I was working on a book (not knowing my title), have been trying to get my attention. Some look good, some not so much. How to make a decision?

Here are the options I am aware of:

1) Go the traditional route, which will require me to get the attention of a traditional publisher willing to take me on and work with me to completion. The book will take a long time to produce, but it will get into a lot of outlets.

2) Go the self-publishing route, which has a lot more options to sort through. This usually requires the writer to up front the money and provide the marketing to get the word out. These often include being available on site such as Amazon in digital format.

3) Go with a hybrid publisher, which will be somewhere in the middle of the first two options.

My biggest problem is I have a very little "market" in my back pocket. About 2.4 thousand friends on Facebook, and a world-wide Salvation Army network (which will not likely enthusiastically get behind my subject). "World-wide" sounds bigger than it really is, in my case.

Well that's the nutshell for you.

Now that you know a bit, I am asking for your prayer support to find the right publisher.

Naturally, I am anxious to get this done YESTERDAY! But I realize it is going to take time. While I seek a publisher, I am still writing and a friend is helping with the first-through editing process. In the end I want to get my message out to as many people as need it.
